What is BeReworn and how does it work?

BeReworn is designed to be a hybrid community of people who are passionate about sustainability, slow fashion, and building inclusive spaces for creators, designers, and anyone looking for ways to live a more sustainable lifestyle! Our platform is an all-in-one tool for hosts to organize their clothing swap or upcycling events, including ticket sales and previews of clothes that will be brought to swaps, and for community members to find and attend events nearby. All events are designed to be in-person so that members can actually see the swappable items for themselves and, for upcycling events, to learn new skills firsthand.

Who is behind BeReworn?

Hola! Here are a few commonly asked questions to help you navigate BeReworn and the swap community. Have a question that isn't answered below? Contact us at hola@bereworn.com!

Hosting and Attending Events

  1. I want to host my first clothing swap, where do I start?

Check out our Hosting 101 Guide for recommendations on everything from creating your first event on our platform, promoting your swap, and day of setup.
  2. I want to attend a swap event! What can I expect?

Maybe you're eyeing an upcoming swap near you or already bought a ticket, but you have questions about what to expect and what to bring. First, make sure to read the event info, including the start and end time, location, and clothing sizes the host expects to have. The host will also note how many items of clothing they would like attendees to bring. When you buy your ticket, you'll be able to select how many clothes you plan on bringing to swap and their size(s). Once your ticket is purchased, your spot is reserved and you'll get a confirmation via email of your purchase. Don't forget to invite a friend! We're excited to see you there!
  3. What's an upcycling workshop?

Here at BeReworn we love upcycling! Upcycling is a term to describe the process of giving old or unused clothes a second chance at a new life through small to medium modifications like repairing and refurbishing. For example, patching a pair of pants so they can be used again or turning a jacket into a cute tote, and so on. The possibilities are endless and how you upcycle is as unique as you are! Whether you're a designer or enjoy teaching others how to upcycle, it's a great way to showcase your talents to a group and make some extra cash. And if you're looking to join an upcycling event and learn how to give your clothes a new life, whether for yourself or for a future swap, this event is perfect for you!
  4. Why are there no events near me?

Our community is growing fast and we're excited to support amazing humans around the world to organize more sustainable events. We're still in the early stages of building up our platform and would love to support swaps in more cities, but we need your help. Perhaps this is a sign to host your first event! And if you want to host, but don't know where to start, reach out to us and we'll help you plan every step of the way.

Account and Technical Support

  1. How do I create an account?

Go to the Sign in page in the main menu and follow the prompts to sign up for an account.
  2. I forgot my password, how do I reset it?

The nice thing about creating an account on BeReworn is there's no password needed! We have two authentication methods for you to choose from: Google (“sign in with Google”) or magic links (passwordless authentication). Magic links use a unique, time-sensitive URL that gets delivered straight to your inbox - note that the link expires after 10 minutes. The magic links URL leverages a securely-generated token to serve as a credential for user authentication. Regardless of which authentication method you choose, we make it easy so there's no need for you to remember/store a specific password for BeReworn!
  3. How do you protect my personal information?

BeReworn is committed to complying with the General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR"), and enabling our users to comply with the data protection law.
